B.D.G. Manufacturing Ltd began life as Swatkins & Turvey in 1939. The company became limited in 1941 and changed its name to William Bayliss & Sons Ltd. During the Second World War the company was employed in the manufacture of munitions for the war effort. The following 50 years saw the company concentrating on its main area of expertise of metal spinning and presswork, supplying blanks to many diverse industries including automotive, lighting, sports cups, hotelware and giftware. In 1998 the company further strengthened its position in the corporate giftware and awards market when it joined forces with A. Dawe Silversmiths Ltd. In 2001 there was further expansion when B.D.G. took over Gainsborough Silverware Ltd, a company with an envious reputation for supplying quality serving and tableware to some of the top airlines, hotels, cruise lines and restaurants in the world. This was followed in 2004 by the purchase of W.J. Baker & Sons Ltd, a family company founded in 1882 who are one of the main U.K. manufacturers of hollowware and flatware for silverplating. W.J. Baker were also one of only a few companies producing a range of British made stainless steel serving ware under the trade name “Carpathian”. Over the last few years the new business has continued to grow and has many prestigious clients including The Professional Footballers Association, Manchester United, The Rugby Football Union, Burberry, Cunard, The Peninsula Group, The Elite Group, The Ritz Hotel, Gordon Ramsay@Claridges, The Café Royal, Sandy Lane Hotel in Barbados.
